Walk in Interview for AdmissioN to Ph.D. Programme 2010 at INDIAN INSTITUE OF INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE, JAMMU

IIIM, Jammu invites applications fro walk-in interview on 10th and 11th May 2010 from motivated candidates, who have passed M.Sc. and cleared CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF examination or ICMR JRF examination for Ph.D. Programme of the Institute.

THE APPLICANTS MAY BE PLACED IN ANY OF THE SPECIALIZED AREAS MENTIONED BELOW AFTER AN ORIENTATION COURSE AND LAB ROTATION.

The Specific Areas of Research:

Organic Chemistry: Isolation, structure and synthesis of organic natural products from plants and microbial species. Medicinal Chemistry of drug-like scaffolds, hit-to-lead optimization and dru canddidate selection. Biotransformation, using enzymes ffrom extremophiles and chemical ecology

Pharmacology General Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, drug-metabolism and toxicology with focus on the disease areas of cancer, inflammation, diabetes and drug resistant infections

Bioinformatics: Computer aided 3D structure elucidation, QSAR modeling and in-silico drug design

Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Agrotechnology, bio-prospecting and cultivation of endangered and commercial plant species


Eligibility and Selection: Candidates with masters or equivalent degree in any of the branches of science (Chemistry, Life Sciences, Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Physiology or in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering), who are qualified to receive Junior Research Fellowship after passing CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF Examination (A category) are eligible to be interviewed. No TA/DA or any other expenses shall be paid for appearing in the interview.

Age limit: 28 years (age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST, Woman, Physically Handicapped, and OBC candidates).

Accommodation: Successful candidates will be provided hostel accommodation in the campus during their Ph. D. tenure if available.
