Solapur University, PhD Admissions (Two Seats)
PhD. Admission Notification
The candidate (Graduate from any university recognized by UGC) desirous of taking Ph.D. admission to the following courses should apply to The Registrar, Solapur University in the prescribed form on or before 22nd March 2010 the prospectus along with the application form may be downloaded from http://su.digitaluniversity.ac or can be obtained form university office from in person or by remitting the prescribed amount by D.D. drawn on may Nationalized Bank payable at solapur in favour of The Registrar, Solapur University, Solapur along with self addressed envelop (11X9) affixed stamps worth Rs.20/?. There may be a possibility of increase or decrease in the Ph.D. admission seats.

Conditions of Eligibility :
1 The candidates must have Master’s Degree from any U.G.C. recognized institution.
2 The candidate desirous to be admitted to the Ph.D. programme shall appear for the
Entrance Test conducted by the University.
3 The candidates other than SC/ST category who have secured atleast 55% marks (without grace) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination, are eligible for this test. SC/ST/PH/VH (PH?Physically Handicapped. VH/Visually Handicapped i.e. Blind) category candidates who have secured atleast 50% marks (without grace) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this test.
4 Syllabus for Entrance Test shall be equivalent to the NET / SET / GATE / Postgraduate Level of the concerned subject. In the Entrance Test, the candidate’s knowledge about the subject and research aptitude shall be tested. Entrance Test, based on multiple
choice types, shall be of 100 Marks. Out of this, 50 marks shall be for concerned subject knowledge and 50 marks for research aptitude. Admission shall be only on the basis of performance in Entrance Test.
5 Based on the merit in the Entrance Test, the candidate shall appear for an interview, which shall be conducted by the respective Department / School / Recognized Institution / Affiliated College of the University. At the time of interview, candidates re expected to discuss their research interest / area.
6 The candidates, who have qualified SET / NET / UGC?CSIR / JRF / GATE or qualified for M.Phil. through the Entrance Test of the Solapur University or registered for M.Phil. through Entrance Test and desire to convert their registration from M.Phil. to Ph.D. programme or completed M.Phil. degree of Solapur University, in respective subjects, need not appear for the Entrance Test. However, in such cases, for deciding merit, only the percentage of marks obtained by the candidates at post graduate level shall be taken into consideration. Such candidates shall also have to appear for interview. Further, if such candidates wish to appear for the Entrance Test, they may do so and in that case, their score in Entrance Test shall be considered for evaluation of merit as prescribed.
7 The candidates who have completed their M.Phil. course work from Solapur University, Solapur or any other university recognised by the UGC shall be exempted for the Pre. Ph.D. / Ph.D. course work. However, such a candidate will have to appear in the entrance test as applicable to a fresh candidate directly joining Ph.D.
8 Merit list shall be prepared as under,
a. In case of candidates appearing for the Entrance Test, total marks secured in the Entrance Test shall be considered for deciding merit.
b. In case of candidates exempted from the Entrance Test, only the percentage of total marks secured in the Post Graduate examination shall be considered for deciding merit.
c. The interview shall be applicable to all the candidates.
d. Admission shall be given on the basis of the combined merit list prepared on the basis of (a) and (b) above.
9 There will be 100 multiple choice objective questions and each questions will carry one mark.
10 There will be no Negative Marks for wrong Answer.
11 Document List : (Attested Copies of following documents)
1. Final Year Mark list of Master’s Degree or of equivalent.
2. Marriage certificate/Gazette Copy (in case of change in name)
3. Validity Certificate/Caste Certificate issued by Competent Authority from Maharashtra supporting their claim (except for Open category).
4. Medical Certificate given by Competent Authority in prescribed format in case of Blind/Visually or Physically Handicapped Candidates.
Application Form :
The cost of the prospectus is Rs.200/- (in person) and Rs.230/- (by post)
Fees :
The Entrance examination fees Rs. 1000/- for open category candidate and SC/ST/ DTNT/OBC/PH/VH - Rs.700/-. The examination fees can be paid by a demand draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Solapur in the name of “Finance & Account Officer, Solapur University, Solapur”. Examination fees is non refundable.
Centres :
Entrance examination will be held in Solapur University Campus.
Reservation of the seats will be as per Maharashtra Government norms.
Decision of the Admission Committee will be final.
Those who submit the application form downloaded from the university website http://su.digitaluniversity.ac should remit Rs.200/? in cash or by Demand Draft in favour of “Finance & Account Officer, Solapur University, Solapur, at publication section and the receipt of same should be attached alongwith the hard copy of the application form at the time of submission to the university.
Last date of receipt of application form for Entrance Examination is 22nd March 2010.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES
a) The Examination Hall /Room shall be opened 30 minutes before the time specified for the commencement of the examination. No candidate who is late more than 20 minutes after the commencement shall be admitted to the examination.
b) A Seat marked with a Seat number shall be allotted to each candidate. The candidate shall be required to find out and occupy the seat allotted to him/her atleast 20 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
c) No candidate shall be allowed to use a calculator in the examination Hall/room. Cellular Phones, Pagers, Mobiles etc. are not allowed in the examination Hall/room.
d) Any candidate found guilty of using unfair means or of misconduct of any nature in the examination hall/room shall be liable to be disqualified for future examinations.
e) Each candidate shall have to produce his/her admit card on demand by the Coordinator Invigilator/Examination Superintendent/Observer etc.
f) The candidates shall have to abide by any instructions that may be announced by the Superintendent/Invigilator in the examination hall/room.
University reserves right of changing vacant Ph.D. seats.
